There are many sheet metal materials suitable for stamping, and those widely used in the electronics and electrical appliance industries include:
Ordinary Cold-Rolled Steel Sheet (SPCC)
SPCC refers to steel ingots continuously rolled into coils or sheets of the required thickness using a cold rolling mill. SPCC has no surface protection and is easily oxidized when exposed to air, especially in humid environments where the oxidation rate accelerates, resulting in dark red rust. Therefore, the surface must be painted, electroplated, or otherwise protected during use.
Galvanized Steel Sheet (SECC)
SECC's base material is ordinary cold-rolled steel coil. After degreasing, pickling, electroplating, and various post-treatment processes on a continuous electrogalvanizing line, it becomes an electrogalvanized product. SECC not only possesses the mechanical properties and similar machinability of ordinary cold-rolled steel sheets but also has superior corrosion resistance and decorative appearance. It is highly competitive and substitutable in the markets for electronics, home appliances, and furniture. For example, computer cases commonly use SECC.
Hot-dip galvanized steel sheet (SGCC)
Hot-dip galvanized steel coils are semi-finished products that have been hot-rolled, pickled, or cold-rolled. After cleaning and annealing, they are immersed in a molten zinc bath at approximately 460°C to coat the steel sheet with a zinc layer. They are then subjected to tempering, leveling, and chemical treatment. SGCC material is harder than SECC material, has poorer ductility (avoiding deep drawing designs), a thicker zinc layer, and poorer weldability.
Stainless steel SUS301: With a lower chromium (Cr) content than SUS304, it has poorer corrosion resistance, but can achieve good tensile strength and hardness through cold working. It also has good elasticity and is often used in springs and EMI shielding.
Stainless steel SUS304
One of the most widely used stainless steels. Due to its nickel (Ni) content, it has better corrosion resistance and heat resistance than steels containing chromium (Cr). It possesses very good mechanical properties, does not exhibit heat treatment hardening, and lacks elasticity.
